Angela Lauria: Insincere sincerity and blatant fraud

If you happen to peek over at Angela’s LinkedIn page, you’ll see this at the top of the page:

Angela Lauria: Insincere sincerity and blatant fraud for Angela Lauria

Do you notice 2 odd things? I’ve highlighted them in case you missed them.

  1. She lists her pronouns in her name.
  2. The book she is reading isn’t one she published (And none of the books in the background are ones she published either)

LinkedIn.Com has over 575,000,000 users. Of them, about 3300 of them list their preferred pronouns. None of them are very successful.

This is Angela doing what she does best; latching on to whatever is #trending on twitter and attaching herself to it. We’re talking about someone who shows the most insignificant way of ‘support’ for a movement that’s over 6 years old now:

Angela Lauria: Insincere sincerity and blatant fraud

By the way Angela, I see you reworded the “FTC Disclosure” to 2 different headings, both of which still don’t comply in the slightest with the FTC Disclosures requirement.

Side note: I’ve been requesting the FTC disclosure information required by law for every single person she’s had on. I have yet to receive a single one.

Angela Lauria is such a talentless fraud that she can’t even teach her students how to not get in trouble with the government. Class act.

And about #2,
Why would you want your book published by a person who believes so little in what they do that they won’t even be seen with one of their own published books?

I sure as hell know I wouldn’t.

Speaking of fraud

Take a look:

Angela Lauria: Insincere sincerity and blatant fraud

Do you see where she’s X’ed out the “Read for free” button and instead circles the “Buy now with 1-click”, even though the price is zero?

Know why?

Folks with Kindle Unlimited can click on “Read for free” and get a copy of the book. It doesn’t count as a download, or a purchase.

However, even if you set the price to zero, when people ‘buy’ the book it still gets added to the ‘purchase count’ stat, as if it was purchased with real money. Basically, she’s showing you how to artificially inflate your sales data. I’m not sure about you guys, but I’d like my book sales to all be legit – not some faked eBook sale used so you can claim number 1 book because it hit a super obscure subtopic that only sees 3 books published per month.

More lies

This recent email from Angela:

A few of you have asked for more time to apply…
But I need to be fair to everyone, most of all the people who are ready to take action right NOW.
At midnight tonight I’m closing the door to new applicants to write a book with me for a little while, because I just have too many applicants for each place in my program.
So this evening is your last chance to apply to work with me before I turn my focus onto interviews and selection.
Click here to begin your application
Love, Light, and Visits from the Muses,
Dr. Angela E. Lauria
P.S. this isn’t the last time ever I’ll be accepting applicants… but it’s the last time for possibly a few months. My primary source of new authors is referrals from my current authors, and I only open the door to the public every few months. If you can’t apply now or the timing isn’t right that’s ok – you can talk to me again when I next open the door.

Emphasis mine. Her primary source? Really?

Except for the emails she sent out on 8/31/2018, 9/3/2018, 9/13/2018, 9/20/2018, 9/24/2018, 9/27/2018, 10/4/2018, 10/11/2018, 10/18/2018, 10/25/2018, 11/3/2018, 11/11/2018, 11/13/2018, 11/15/2018, 11/22/2018, 11/29/2018, 12/6/2018, 12/12/2018, 12/21/2018, 12/27/2018, 1/10/2019, 1/14/2019, 1/17/2019, 1/24/2019, 1/31/2019, 2/1/2019, 2/3/2019

Lets Debunk this For You

Yesterday, February 4th, The Author Incubator posted a video on YouTube. Just a couple minutes in length. Here’s literally one half of the video:

Lets Debunk this For You
Breakdown of $1m book revenue, YouTube

So, first the good: It’s true that a book will see, on average, 3,000 sales in its lifetime.

However, the rest of it is lies.

  • First, that statistic is from 2006 and is for all genres. Not specific to one.
  • Keep in mind, their are almost 1,000,000 books published every year.
  • About half of those are self-published (What Angela is doing)
  • Those self-published books average less than 250 sales. That data aligns with the ongoing monitoring of various titles Angela has published.
  • Not even her own books that she wrote sell.
  • Oh and that 3000 figure does not include ‘ebook sales’
  • The revenue figures are completely made up.

The average price for an eBook on Amazon or is between $2.99 to $3.99. So how does she get $3 per book? She just makes it up.

Whatever it will take to part with your $15,000.

Why you should wait

Here’s why you should wait and work on your writing before doing something so brash as to actually give that conman your hard earned money:

  • The average advance to publish a book as a first-time author is $10,000.
  • That advance is calculated from the estimated sale of your book for the first 6 months to a year.

And actually, just start writing your book now. Finish it. Send it to publishers for review. Get honest feedback. Improve. And before you know it, someone will take it.

Lets Debunk this For You

Things like her comment is stuff that the Federal Trade Commission absolutely LOVES to investigate.

Oh, and after the fold, here’s the first 104 people Angela just brazenly prints for whoever to see, without a care for their privacy.

Humility, Damned Lies, and Statistics

PRO TIP: From someone who wanted to do their own due diligence.
Ask Angela for the disclosures that prove the amount of money some of her author’s have made, and ask for her doctorate credentials.
Odds are you’ll get the same treatment this person did; unceremoniously removed from the upcoming ‘interview’.

Angela is a humble. Probably the most humble. She will even tell you herself that she’s extremely humble! Just look for yourself:

Humility, Damned Lies, and Statistics

In case clicking on pictures to enlarge them is a phobia to you, I’ll quote the meat of it.

Here’s a quick snapshot of what I’m combing through today…. when I run our Masterclass to help me find the very best applicants for my next cohort, my acquisitions team end up under a pile of over 1,000 applications from healers, coaches, entrepreneurs, consultants, and movement-makers, most of whom have a great message and want to make a difference with a book.
It’s humbling.

The Author Incubator email “This is humbling…” February 1, 2019

At the top of the email is an animated gif, which she states is what she’s “combing through today”. It’s this gif:

Humility, Damned Lies, and Statistics

Something seems off about that gif, doesn’t it?

I’ll give you a minute. Click on “Read More” for the answer

It’s time to enhance and take a closer look at things. Remember she said that GIF represented over 1000 applicants from the masterclass event that took place on January 31st, 2019.

It’s 186 frames in size and there are these interesting things to note:

  • It has 2 interesting “jumps” where the creator has quickly scrolled back up and then returns to scrolling down at a slower pace.
  • It contains the personal info of the people who signed up. Sure, it’s just their name, but that alone is disrespectful.
  • The newest email shown is from September 24th, 2018
  • The last email is from September 6th, 2018
  • It only contains an estimated 360 people.

In other words, she publicly discloses the names of people who signed up to her program, she lies about the number of applicants, and directly states that the provided GIF is the result of her current class.

There’s literally nothing factual in her email. Because you can’t show humility by manufacturing how amazing you are.

Speaking of lies via email, how about the line she randomly throws into her emails about how many people want to write a book. You know the one:

Humility, Damned Lies, and Statistics

She almost never cites where this data comes from, but you can see she does state it’s from the New York Times.
So I reached out to them and asked for that particular poll. This is what I received:

The New York Times has no record of any such poll being given, this includes going through over 6 decades of digitized data. Furthermore, the Times rarely would make a poll with such an ambiguous topic that provides no value to the readership.

And hey, lets throw in one more thing before I wrap this up. If you search for The Author Incubator on Social Blade, you’ll see this:

Humility, Damned Lies, and Statistics

Let me point out that she has 420 videos, with a combined 66,005 views.

While I have 35 videos, and 86,469 views.

If you click on her to see more info about her channel, you’re greeted with the following:

Humility, Damned Lies, and Statistics

There’s no reason to hide this information, unless you wanted to misrepresent yourself.

If you want to publish a book, just go to the Kindle Desktop Publishing website yourself. It’s all she does. They have all the help you could possibly want or need!

Remember folks, con artists are always super charismatic and manipulative. Be aware of the signs and you’ll be all the richer!

Share this with everyone you know – and be sure to ask Angela for the documents she has to keep proving the wealth of the people she’s helped, per FTC rules. And also ask for her Doctor credentials.

A new guide to the scam and some burnout.

I have created a new page about her scam, “The Definitive Guide” I need to polish it, that’s why I’m not publishing the page but posting its link here.

I’ve tried to create a video, 15 – 20 minutes long, that explains everything wrong about The Author Incubator as well as proof.

I’ve had over a dozen takes, and the shortest video is 45 minutes. And all I’m covering is the website’s index, the about page and her philosophy.

There is SO MUCH WRONG that I run over 40 minutes on 3 pages. And every time I run into something new.

I’m a public speaker, I’ve given tech talks to groups of thousands. So I know how to talk, and I know how to read a teleprompter and then speak it. It’s pretty easy. I can even rework concepts to go along with where I’m at, or the conference subject, etc. In other words, I’m pretty decent at it.

But reading what Angela wrote I would end up coming to a hard pause during several of them. They are structured so poorly, are missing  words, or make so little sense that my brain just stops. If I run into a sentence that is too difficult, or I can’t speak, out in the wild on stage I normally just skip it. But her writing is so absolutely grade school bad that I can’t even foresee it’s crap factor and am able to skip it.

So yeah, I suffered. Highly.

Anyway, I’ll continue to slowly work on it. In all honesty Angela may end up in the news and courts before too long. Probably not the news since she’s not a big figure. So I’m going to focus on the other site, where I can tackle other snake oil salesfolk. Because after studying her writing so much I think my brain is rotting.
